It Doesn’t Make Me Sexist To Assume The Guy’s Got The Check.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but when a couple goes out to eat, is it not the man who takes up the check most of the time? I’d give it a 9:1 ratio of dudes paying to dudettes paying. Obviously, the woman I served last night didn’t have her little (yes, very little) head wrapped around that little fact as she complained ad nauseum that I didn’t give her the check.

Her: “Ummm…why did you just assume that HE was going to pay for it?”
Me: “Because guys usually pick up the check.”
    Her: “EXCUSE me?”
    Me: “Ummm…”
    Her: “That is soooo sexist!”
    Me: “Well, here you go.”

And then I handed her the check. I went to go pick it up a little bit later, ran the credit card through and put the bill back on the table in front of her. Not a minute later, I saw the GUY signing his name because it was HIS credit card.

What a douchette. She bitches me out over principle and then doesn’t even follow through with it. At least the guy was cool. He gave me a 50% tip and a “Sorry my girlfriend’s a b****” on the bottom of the receipt. So, if anyone knows of a Benjamin B. Rossain with a high-strung-for-absolutely-no-reason girlfriend, give him a high-five for me because he 1) has her for a girlfriend and 2) frickin’ deserves it.

If a guy goes as far as writing “Sorry my girlfriend’s a bitch” on a restaurant receipt, I’d not be high-fiving him, I’d be asking him what the hell he’s doing with her!! :)

I’ve been bitten by that myself. And it’s cost me tips. So now i just put the check in the middle of the table and I ALWAYS ALWAYS check the name on the card to see who I need to get it signed by. Modern times man……gotta move with them…….

I love it when people get offended just for the sake of being offended. It gives me great hope for our future.

My boyfriend and I go out to eat frequently and sometimes we split it, sometimes he pays and sometimes I pay. 9 times out of 10 the check is given to him but I’ve never once thought about calling a waiter sexist over it.

I just don’t understand being a bitch for no reason. I’m glad the guy made up for it.

maybe she is a freak in bed otherwise unless she is paying the credit card bill at the due date you gotta wonder why he puts up with her shit

personally I probably would have screwed myself out of the 50% tip by making sure to thank her for paying for the tab as the guy was signing the tab

tho I do notice lots of loder married couples its the wife who carries the card or the money and she may or may not sign the credit receipt

I always set it in the middle of two people, not because I’ve been bitched at, but because of stories like this one!

I always pay, because my hubby’s bad at math, and if you leave him to pay, your tip will suck. Is there any harm at all in putting it in the middle or offering it neutrally so the person paying will grab it? If I ever gave the check to anyone in particular when serving, it was because they asked for it (and that was usually for parties, and those people more often would slip me a credit card before I could bring a bill).
