Don’t Get Used To This, Girls And Boys.
I don’t think I’ve done this in the near-year I’ve had this website up, but I think it’s finally time to put my writing to good use.
I’ve been writing stories about idiots for some 10 months now, and my traffic has increased every month. I’m now preaching to a congregation of 4,000 unique visitors a week and receiving 50,000 page views a month.
As much as I know you love my rants and raves, there’s other things I’m completely up in arms about.
It’s what Christians would call “conviction”, I guess.
That’s why I want to tell my thousands of visitors to go to this site:
With every visitor and page view, it’s legitimacy and exposure is heightened that much more.
We can organize pointless frickin’ Gas Outs and cry to our Mothers and Fathers when Facebook tweaks its layout.
Just think: We get our panties in a twist about Darfur just half as much as we do when Jessica Simpson starts dating John Mayer and I bet we’d have a squadron of B-52’s frickin’ bombing the hell out of the bad guys in Sudan quicker than you can tell me the capital of Kenya. We’d be doing a good thing, the world would love us and it’d look cool as hell on TV. This all while saving lives and softening an already harsh situation.
So here’s what I’m asking you all: If you have the time, click on an ad or two. At the end of each month, I will donate all of the proceeds to www.savedarfur.org. Each ad translates to about 10-20 cents from AdBrite.
If when you read the information about Darfur and feel that you want to do something, but can’t think of anything or think you don’t have the time, do this. It takes only a minute to click on the ads, but if the thousands of you that visit my site every week click on them, we can be sending hundreds of dollars a month for free. That’s right! At absolutely NO cost to anyone (except AdBrite!).
Thanks for your time, guys. More rants and raves about idiots tomorrow.

Do you support the goings on in Iraq and/or Afghanistan?

Ryan, I read your site on a daily basis often times i will visit again before you even post something new. I have to say, I dont like this one bit.

I clicked. I honestly don’t see what the big deal is Zak.

Kayla,
Yes and no. If I had to give you a definitive answer, it would probably be “yes”, but I think it’s a little more complicated than that.
Zak,
Think what you will. Would pictures of the checks I’m sending help? I’d rather not do that because it seems a little egotistical. But, hey, it’s y’alls clicks so if you want pictures every time I send a check, I’ll take ‘em.
Christina,
Thanks.

Ryan,
I completely trust you in this matter… I’m not judging your honesty, more or less questioning if this is moral.
by doing this its taking money from businesses who pay to have their ad clicked, in some cases these ads are a way of them knowing if their advertising is directed at their customers. by doing this its screwing all kinds of things up as far as that goes.
I’m all for supporting a cause I just don’t think that this is the way to do it.
also, What percentage of a dollar actually goes to Darfur? just out of curiosity

And uh, it’s Nairobi, Kenya. Just Kidding.
I clicked.

It’s nice to see someone putting their money where their mouth was when it comes to causes nowadays but I can’t help wondering if there were some cause that could be more effectively dealt with locally, as in this country. I donate my time and money to charitable organizations I have personally vetted and found to be above board. But it’s your site and it’s your choice after all. I respect that.

I’m going to be clicking every time I go to your site now.

[…] In reference to this post, I donated $176.42 anonymously to Save Darfur. I wanted it to stay anonymous, but it was your money […]
